Beginning Class - Open Water Diver

Open Water Certification - The First Step
 
  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL DIVING CLASSES

  Registration must be done in person at the store for this class. Registration for classes at the Gettysburg YWCA are to be done at the YWCA prior to coming to York Divers for class material and personal equipment needed for the course.You may download the medical form prior to coming to the store. If you answered yes to any question on the medical form you must be cleared by a physician prior to beginning of the class. All students are to have their own textbook with dive tables for the course. The textbook/dive tables are included in the price of the course.

  All students are required to have proper mask, snorkel, fins and boots for the course. This personal equipment may be purchased at York Divers prior to the first class session. This equipment may be purchased at the same time you register for the course. The new student receives a 10% discount off the purchase price of the mask, snorkel, fins and boots as well as any other items purchased at that time. These items are properly fitted to each student by store personnel.

 The cost of the confined (pool) water training and class sessions is $225.00 per person. The course may be 4 or 5 weeks in duration depending upon location. The cost includes the book, dive tables, logbook pages and all other equipment needed for the pool training. The DVD required for the course is $35.00. One per person/family required.

 The confined water (pool) sessions are done at a warm indoor pool. Please check schedule for time and place. All students need to bring a swimsuit (girls - one piece suits only) ,towel and their own mask, snorkel, fins and boots.

 Each session is 1 1/2 -2 hours in class and 1 1/2 -2 hours in the pool. The classes are held once a week. Please see schedule for starting dates.
 If you miss a class, no worries, we will help you make up the session you missed.

 CERTIFICATION DIVES

  There are 4 dives, 2 each day, that will be done to complete your scuba certification. Locally we do the dives beginning in late April thru the end of November. Dives may be done at other times if arranged through the dive store. You may rent a drysuit for the certification dives. Additional cost and training required if using a drysuit.

 If you have taken the classes during the winter months we will have you back for a pool refresher prior to completing your certification dives in the Spring.

 Please check our trip schedule as we may be able to certify you on one of our trips.
 
 Cost of the 4 open water certification dives is $170.00 for all 4 dives. Rental of equipment included. Drysuit rental is $75.00 extra.
